Depending on the manufacturer, some models run from a single LED emitter and many use multiple LEDs for the light output. These lights require a case or holster for storage and carry and all but a select few require multiple or specialized batteries for operation.
Flashlights in this category are good for large area searches, hunting and illuminating game at night and police operations requiring large amounts of light.
It is recommended if you select a light from this category and you plan on using it indoors that it have multiple modes of output. 500 lumens of light reflecting off of surfaces indoors can actually be too much light so see good detail.
